Somerset County, NJ Picket Place Bridge Replacement Project Branchburg Township and Hillsborough Township, New Jersey

Welcome to the Picket Place Bridge Replacement Project Website

The Picket Place (County Route 567) Bridge over the South Branch of the Raritan River is located in Branchburg and Hillsborough Townships. The Picket Place Bridge is in poor condition and has structural and functional limitations that do not meet today’s design standards.

Somerset County in coordination with the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) and the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has completed the Local Concept Development (LCD) Study and is advancing the Local Preliminary Engineering (LPE) Phase to replace the existing four-span bridge. Preliminary Engineering is the second phase of the Local Capital Project Delivery Process (LCPD). During LPE, the project team will refine the preferred alternative, and secure approval of the Environmental Document in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements. After completion of LPE, the project will advance to the Final Design (FD) and Construction phases with durations dependent on the bridge replacement improvements to be implemented and upon federal funding availability.
